- I am a 39 year old mother, wife and footwear designer. I was diagnosed with AML with a FLT3 genetic mutation on Oct. 2, 2008. I didn't achieve remission on my first induction and was sent right back in to the hospital for a second induction. I finally achieved remission on my second induction and a month later went in to the hospital to receive my stem cell transplant. My one and only sibling, my sister, was my perfect match. My transplant was on Jan. 7th 2009 and right now, I am a survivor.
